The earlier a recurrent tumor is found, the more options there are for treatment and the greater the chance that treatment will be successful. Health permitting, surgery is the most effective treatment for a recurrent tumor. A focal boost of radiation to the tumor using radioactive implants or stereotactic radiosurgery can be effective. Chemotherapy is often used to treat recurrent tumors.
